Volunteers make the 2018 Keep Whitehouse Beautiful “Don’t Mess With Texas Trash Off” another annual Success!

The roadways in the Whitehouse area are cleaner now thanks to 255 participants at the annual “Don’t Mess With Texas Trash Off” and “Great American Clean Up”, organized by Keep Whitehouse Beautiful. Nearly 59 miles of roadway have been cleared of trash!  Some teams are still doing clean up, but to date nearly 200 trash bags of debris have been collected.  All this trash totaled over 4,000 lbs. so far.

Participating teams make all the difference!  Major teams participating from the community included:  WHS Key Club & Student Council, WHS Nat. Honor Society, WHS Football Team, WJHS Builders Club, Brown NEHS and Higgins Elementary, WJHS Nat. Honor Society, Brookshire’s, Republic Services, KWB, Carl Dowdy Roadies, County Road 15 neighborhood, Proforma Horizon Total Source, Tri County Leader and Smith Co. Sheriff’s Office & Trustees.  Also, participants from Adopt-a-Hwy and Adopt-a-Road groups:   Whitehouse Church of God in Christ, Whitehouse United Methodist Church, First Ladies Drill Team at Whitehouse HS and Church Under the Bridge Tyler.  Participation of community leaders Aaron Smith, City of Whitehouse Manager and Chris Moran, Whitehouse Independent School District Superintendent, was greatly appreciated.  The participation of Kathi White and Georgia Eades from TXDOT was an appreciated addition this year.

Keep Whitehouse Beautiful offers special thanks to our sponsors and business friends who are listed elsewhere on this page and provide monetary or in kind donations for the Trash Off and other projects and events KWB leads throughout the year. We especially want to thank Republic Services for providing the great lunch with their grilling trailer!  In addition, coupons from Chick fil A, Dairy Queen and McDonalds were also distributed to volunteers.
